Professional Background
Margaret has been practicing as a Cognitive Behaviour Psychotherapist for fourteen years and mediating for three years. In that time she has provided CBT to individuals with a range of emotional and behavioural difficulties. She has also been providing training and support to professionals who work on a daily basis with challenging behaviours as part of their job. Since qualifying as a mediator she has been involved in providing mediation in the areas of family, workplace, social, and community mediation.
Margaret's experience as a CBT Psychotherapist has provided her with insight, impartiality and a deep knowledge as to the complexities of disputes and conflict and their subsequent consequences.
Her professional training and insight into what triggers people to become involved in disputes and her everyday handling of emotional and behavioural issues has enriched her effectiveness as a mediator who can bring about resolution.
During her career she has witnessed how disputes and the possible subsequent conflict can affect not only those involved directly in them but also those who have to watch and pay heavily for the impact of the impasse

Description of Mediation Style
Margaret has a facilitative style of mediation which employs good listening and communicative skills while sustaining engagement in the process. She is a clear and impartial thinker which enables her to articulate in a concise way the individual issues, without the emotion, as stated by the clients. Margaret has a reputation for keeping people focused on a resolution.
Margaret has mediated fifty cases since 2012. She has worked mainly with families in crisis and with organisations and companies who find that conflict within their teams is proving to be costly on a human and economic level. Margaret's skills and experience lend themselves to having a greater insight as to the real issues that are involved in the conflict, thus providing a clearer understanding for all parties as to the value of engagement in the process of resolution.
